San Gejtanu - new CD release on Music chamber :
"The CD has a lovely ambience, at times spacious, fluid, at others rhythmically dynamic and repetitive to effect, and the Altissimo Ensemble itself was a triumph."

Matsushima Ken
"San Gejtanu is the guardian deity of Hamrun, a small town facing a cove in the centre of Malta. The composer Ian Stewart created this music from his impressions when visiting Malta, and perhaps this is the reason why in this contemporary music the strings never make rough or strident sounds. Above the smooth sound of the strings, Kyle Horch's saxophone weaves around generously with notes like pearls, evoking the bright Maltese sunshine, or perhaps a refreshing walk through the forest. The music captures the feeling of gentle sunbeams through tree leaves, or a bubbling stream, or perhaps the sight of an ancient tree. There may not be catchy tunes in this album, but listen when you are tired, and it will sooth you." (Matsushima Ken - translation by Mona Kodama and Juan Drown ) |
