Canzona for mezzo soprano saxophone was written as there is very little contemporary music for this rare member of the saxophone family. The tone of the mezzo soprano is distinctive and it is unfortunate that this instrument is not very common today. However as some reports suggest only about two hundred were made this is probably to be expected.
