The aim of this piece was to write a solo piano piece integrating traditional piano styles e.g. the two part invention, much use of rubato and strong resonant chords. Also in this piece there are long melodies over a drone, something I have always enjoyed listening to and probably comes from my love Scottish and Galician music. I have also been told the effect also comes over as Oriental.
